I created the OLE logo during my time in Design Streak Studio. OLE is the Organization of Latino/a/x Employees at Illinois State University. Each member of the team was tasked with designing their own logo concept. The client ultimately selected my option out of the 7 we presented.
During our meeting with the client, we talked a lot about cultural sensitivity and how we could educate ourselves to avoid stereotyping and certain imagery. We spent a lot of time talking about the significance of art, embroidery, and textiles. From our conversation I started to look at traditional art methods that featured textiles and found lots of inspiration from artist Bisa Butler. Overall the client felt this logo was energetic and lively, and could serve as a representation of their community.
I also created some simple social media and web banners to aid in the roll out of the new logo.
