Bloomington-Normal Trade and Labor Assembly
During my internship with Design Streak Studio, we were approached by the local labor union to design a logo. This project ended up being such a fun and educational experience. Along with the initial client meeting and brief we were able to attend a museum exhibition in town and really spend time learning the rich history and impact of our local union and unions in general. To tackle this project the studio split into two teams. My team designed the final logo chosen by the client (presented as 1 of 3 options).

OPTION 1
For this logo option we wanted to propose a word mark. We chose to do this using a contemporary sans serif font. The bold angles offer strength and give weight to the stacked text, which we aligned in the shape of a banner. We chose to make the logo blue toned for its symbolism of unity, stability, and loyalty. This was the final logo selected by the client.
OPTION 2
For this logo option we wanted to propose something that was both modern and minimal. Inspired by different examples of trade and labor union buttons, we went for a circle formation. We chose to include outlines of the four counties represented by the union at the center of the logo to show unity. The way the counties connect in an upwards motion serves as a great visual of progress and growth. We surrounded the counties using an orange circle, for its symbolism of activism, freedom, balance, and determination.
