Rolling Gardens
Rolling Gardens is a project that I worked on during my internship with Design Streak Studio for the Office of Sustainability. Our team was approached with the task to brand a mobile cart used for growing plants. The cart resided in our studio space where we had the opportunity to take part in the planting and care of the cart over the course of the semester while we designed the logo and cart assets.
I led the development of this logo for my group and it was 1 of 3 options presented to the client. Ultimately this option did not get chosen, but I’m still very proud of how it came to be.
We wanted to present the client with something that was more modern and structured, compared to the more organic versions. I created custom lettering to connect both the ‘R’ and the ‘G’ as well as the ‘g’ and the ‘s’ to visually replicate growth and roots. Both of these concepts were important to incorporate as the cart provides hands-on learning to those who view and interact. The color scheme for this logo features a soft peach toned orange paired with a neutral yellow and earthy brown. We wanted to avoid the intense red typically used in the ISU branding and instead go for a softer, more natural, earth toned palette.
